How to balance different creative dreams
I have called myself many things over the course of my creative journey so far: writer, filmmaker, screenwriter, playwright, photographer, designer, artist, director, producer, novelist, etc.
One of the reasons I landed on my current preferred descriptor of ‘artist and writer’ instead of just ‘writer’ is to help encompass all the different things I do. ‘Artist’ allows me to work on other photography, film and theatre projects from time to time under the same identity.
But I’ve had many moments where I wonder if this is the best way to do it.
Jack of all trades, master of none
The disadvantage of having so many creative interests is that I often feel like a jack of all trades, master of none. I’m spreading myself widely, but thinly.
